President's Message

As a President of Gurung Tourism Entrepreneurs’ Association, Nepal (GTEAN)), I welcome you to our website, and take this opportunity to introduce you to our Association.

I am proud to have our the only one and the first ever tourism umbrella organization “Gurung Tourism Entrepreneurs’ Association, Nepal” – GTEAN so called in Nepali “Gurung Paryatan Byabsahi Sang, Nepal and it gives me an immense pleasure to have our information in electronic media. Although this organization has been formed by a handful of Trekking, Travel and Rafting companies but anticipate in the near future expanding nationally for other travel related organizations too.

I personally even so much delighted to have this golden opportunity to lead all Gurung brothers and sisters in the national level by this Travel trade umbrella organization GTEAN.

GTEAN was established in 2012 as an Association that would support and promote high quality standards and growth of Trekking, Travel and Rafting industry promoting lawful interests and ensuring unity and co-operation among its members. Since its establishment GTEAN has evolved, anticipating and meeting the growing needs of its member Trekking, rafting and Travel entrepreneurs.

GTEAN is the travel trade industry's voice specially among Gurung tourism entrepreneurs and has represented its members in virtually every type of situation, ranging from government advocacy for policy formulation to creating political commitment in creating conducive environment for its growth to settling various travel trade issues. Whenever necessary all our members come together to recommend action and take positions on issues of concern.

Tourism sector is a major contributor in the national economy. It is a major employment generator. At present the tourism sector contributes 3.6 percent of the total GDP. This sector has a huge potential to grow. Tourism is not an isolated industry; it works hand in hand with many other sectors. The last decade has seen a major setback in the growth of the industry. It is time that we gear up for the growth of Trekking, travel, Rafting and other tourism related industry contributing to the country's economic and social development.

I would like to welcome you to a network of more than 89 professionals of Trekking, Travel and Rafting business. We invite all of our members to participate in our programs. If you have any issues or want to voice your opinion we are here to serve you. Please feel free to contact us.

In the mean time I hereby humbly request all the Gurung (Tamu) organizations, individuals, intellectuals as well as Gurung (Tamu) well-wishers to provide us with your valuable advice and suggestions in order to carry out our mission, vision and the objectives stated above effectively, through this website.

Finally, I would like to thank millions to our advisors, executive committee members and general members for their valuable services from various quarters to enliven the legacy of GTEAN. We request our member agencies and friends in the industry to provide their valuable support and cooperation and help establish GTEAN as a responsible travel trade association in the country. We solicit similar support and cooperation in the future as well. Let us join hand in hand to uplift our organization.
